Sugar, Spice... and Everything Nice!

Blows my Mind that the weekend is ALREADY coming to an end.

I hope those of you who had UEA enjoyed it! The Bascoms weren't as lucky as some to have a long weekend, but we wont complain.

Sugar

I used my oven for the first time this weekend!
pathetic I know.
But you know that obligated feeling to make something whenever someone comes over...
I got that.

It was Fun and simple!
All you need is:

Snyder Pretzels
Hershey kisses
and a bag of Reeses pieces

Then the rest is pretty self explanatory.

Step 1: pour bag of pretzels onto a cookie sheet and pick out all the broken crappy ones.
Step 2: Un wrap Hershey kisses until your fingers start bleeding, each pretzel has one placed one top.
Step 3: place Herhsey kiss covered pretzels in preheated oven of 250 Degrees for a total of 3 minuets.. if that..
Step 4: remove from oven and carefully place reeses pieces on top of each yummy melted Hershey kiss pretzel..
 and WaLA!
Lets face it.. I'm not Martha Stewart
But they were Delicious!

Along with my .. Un named treats
we had Carmel apples!! I figured it best suited the "fall feel".

Spice
He wasn't very Excited...

Tucker was Lucky enough to get, yet another set of shots this weekend!

He did Awesome! Our pup is getting big!!!
Coming in at 25 lbs! Doctor says we've got ourselves a "Big dog in the making"!
I didn't Believe him until I asked the owners of Tucks Brother, Jax, How much he weighed in at..
a WHOPPING  19 lbs...
So either our Booger is Fat.. Or he really is just going to be a BIG dog.
I'm hoping for the later.

After shots we made our routine Trip to Pet Co to reward him for how well he did,
He couldn't pick out a toy so I made him pick the bone he snatched off the shelf as we were walking past

"You lick it, You buy it!"

EVERYTHING NICE

I made a DI run with the Sister this weekend, I walked in telling myself I wouldn't get a Cart, that way I wouldn't get that much..

That obviously didn't stop me.

It wasn't as extreme as the last trip but..

I got a few shirts and jackets: 5 to be exact,
a cute basket, a brand new tool belt for Jake,
and a hat. I would call it a win.

To Conclude the weekend,

Due to complications of our washer and dryer,
we get to enjoy our time doing our laundry up at my parents house!

Thanks Mom and Dad!

Okay maybe Enjoy was the wrong word....

Tucker sure is enjoying himself..

Tucker and his Half sister Aspen

Best friends Already! I love my Pups!

The Weather is Beautiful! Get out and Enjoy!!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Watching the Leaves Change..

As I was walking into my house yesterday after work
I couldn't help but notice that my front porch had been neglected... Badly...
I realized I had been spending so much time on the inside, that the outside looked a little lonely..
.. Okay.. VERY lonely!
I'm sorry front porch!
(yes I still need to paint my front door) Don't judge!

So I quickly rummaged through all my decorations to find!!!....
nothing.

No Luck..

So I took a quick drive to the one and only

DI

I had gone, just the day before and had No luck, whatsoever in finding anything.
So of course I went into it with.. not the highest hopes.
But as I went up and down each isle.. it wasn't until an older lady looked at my cart and said
"man, You're finding all sorts of treasures!"

looking at my cart my jaw dropped and in reply stated

"ha ha, Yeah... My husband may or may not kill me"

Really though..

Usually I go through my cart at the end of each DI trip and get rid of the things I don't think I'd die without.. but at the end of this DI trip... I couldn't Decide one thing I couldn't live without!

I had:

2: Beautiful White Stools
4: Light covers for my kitchen Chandelier (I needed 5)
1: strip of brown fabric
1: old looking box .. looked way cool!
2: Decor Cups
1 Bundle: of fake wheat and cat tails
1: bag full of pine cones.. (one was gold its so cute)
and
1: long white cute basket!

... so

Sense I couldn't decide on what to get rid of  I called.. Jake
and said
Jess:"Hun, I'm at the DI"
Jake: "oh no, what'd you find?"
Jess:" A Lot of Cute things!"
Jake: " Oh Gosh, What did you find?"
(proceeding to tell him my list)
I couldn't believe my ears!
Jake:" well don't get the light covers we can get new ones at Home Depot"
Jess: "what!? Okay!"
-Light Covers.. Gone
Jake: " K, babe Gotta go, Have fun!"
Jess: " K , love you bye!

After the conversation I decided sense Jake got rid of one thing.. I should too.

Goodbye cute white long basket that would fit perfectly in my future bathroom! I'm sorry I had to leave you behind!

I was happy with my purchases.

and my Ugly, neglected, sad looking porch,
turned into..

THIS!

Before, I had two plain wooden stools I was planning on painting sometime further down the road but when I came across the cute white ones I couldn't pass them up!
I replaced my two plain wooden stools with the two beautiful white ones,

Before throwing the two brown ones in the garage "DUNGEON"
I figured i could use one out on the front porch! It Turned out Great.

Future DI runs to come!!

Drum Roll Please!??...

The Moment We've all been Waiting For

Pictures!

Now Before I even looked at the pictures I thought "oh this will be a sintch!"
all I'll have to do is...

Upload - Write - Post
Right??

WRONG

Turns out I have A LOT more Pictures of the "BEFORE" than I do the "AFTER"
And I am NOT about to post pictures of what my house looked like before we got our hands on it without the after pictures.. so we're going to keep this to a minimum. My apologies.

Now This Process is the farthest thing from easy, I can tell you that Right now. You think you have it all planned out in your head? .. You wont when it really comes down to it.

Just a few "DID YOU KNOWs"

Did you know:
There are an Infinite amount of color choices you could choose from while deciding a paint color? And every single one is different in certain lighting?

There are over 34 types of tile options ?

The patterns for tile.. ? Don't even get me started.

There are over 1,000 types of wood.

And Carpet?... You can find that out on your own just remember to consider:
Texture
Color
Thickness
and
Padding

Now Before I get started I want to Recognize everyone who helped out so much with Everything
We couldn't have done it without them!

My Family, Jakes Family, Ward Members, Friends and so many more! Thanks GUYS!

Alright.. I'll Stop Blabbing...

When Jake and I first saw the Home, the first thing that came out of my mouth was "NO!" followed by a quick " are you joking me?"

We walked in and found ourselves in what i thought could have been the dead center of the down town dump.
The Carpet: Was an attractive pretty grey.
The front entry/bathroom/ and kitchen flooring was linoleum.
The walls had food on them the base boards were covered in dirt and poopy stuff
but worst of all..
once you hit the top of the stairway, you may as well have passed out and fallen back down them to save yourself from the stench of ... of... things I DO NOT want to know. To say the least.. it was in BAD shape.

But Despite all of that.. we definitely saw some potential in the fixer upper.
and called it OURS
.. So
To get rid of the smell we started with ripping up the Carpet and Putting Kills on the floor. Kills were provided to us by the local Lowes

I Know.. I looked so excited.

But it worked. Smelly crap smell gone.. CHECK!

The Lighting in the home was terrible, The living room didn't have any electrical in the ceiling, just outlets for lamps and as for the kitchen, it had florescent lights that gave you the feeling as if you were in a fish tank.. Not okay!
so...
We started drilling, and doing electrical.. yes we did get shocked and yes.. a few inappropriate necessary words were said during the process.  We now have 3 rows of 3 canned lights in the living room and now the kitchen. Its Beautiful.

Now for the exciting part!...

Amazing.. I know
  • We ripped out the poopy linoleum it was heart breaking.
  • Made a Tile Pathway from the door to the kitchen
  • Lined the living room and Pathway with Walnut Wood
  • Got Thicker Base Boards and
  • FINALLY decided on the paint color "Classic Khaki"
Next please!?

Excuse the Decor Leaned up against the wall.. this was a last minuet picture.
  • We Ripped and replaced the Pretty Pee Pee Carpet. With "river rock" provided to us by Mike and Sterling's Flooring.
  • Thicker Base Boards provided by Colonial Building Supply
  • And a few Splashes of paint. provided by Sherwin Williams
and Last but Not least..
The Kitchen..
Now, before we moved in this is not what it looked like but this is what it looked like for a good two months.. "our Tool Shed"
Note: the Bottom Left Corner,That Tiled area is the pathway coming off of the entryway.
The Kitchen is still a future project, but Its coming.. and I had to share my  DI Steal of the week, $2 Vase on the island! Love it!

The House Was a Huge Project and I had my doubts with some parts of it. But what makes this process so fun is to look back on pictures like these and see that we made the once Poopy, Crappy Smelling, House..
A
Beautiful, livable, Home.

Check.. Check.. 1..2

Intermission is Over..

(eye twitch)

I Apologize for the random disappearance of the blog, (eye twitch) Once I explain and post pictures I'm sure you'll understand (eye twitch),
But..
Ask me if I even have pictures uploaded onto my computer...
(eye twitch)
No.. I do not.
Will I upload pictures?.. Yes Eventually

 Due to:

Lack of Sleep
Painting till the late hours of the morning
and..
a puppy who doesn't sleep

I officially have an eye twitch.
If you run into me somewhere i apologize in advance for the haggard appearance I will have... like the following

okay.. not that bad. But pretty close!

On a lighter note:

We are Moved In!

It has been the:
Longest
Emotional
Stressful
Exhausting
PROCESS

But we made it!

How??

Friday Night:
Jake and I stayed up till 3
Painting
Vacuuming
and Touching up all the small details.

For Dinner that Night... We're proud to say that we were the couple at Dees at 2 o'clock in the AM.

Saturday:
Carpet Came as Planned
(took all day)

Sunday:
Move in Day!

You would think that once we were moved in things would start to slow down..I'm telling you right now... they don't. Now that we're moved in.. its just a matter of getting things in their proper places.. such as

DIY CHAIRS!

Please excuse the lack of decor.. its in a box.. somewhere
I'll get around to that.. and taking a picture of the finished project.

I'm sure by the picture above you looked at it and said to yourself..

"You remodeled ... that!?"
"pretty linoleum, and gorgeous  cabinets!"

The answer...

"That?.. Heavens no."
The kitchen is unfortunately the last thing that will be having some TLC.
Be patient with us.

I'm planning on working on the Before and After pictures Saturday..So watch for them!

In the mean time I'll still be trying to get past this stage of the process....

ENJOY!
