We Already have an addition for our 2012!

Now.. Before I find out from somebody that I'm pregnant let me assure you I'm not.

Our 2012 addition if you haven't noticed yet is seen on the left hand side of the blog
....

Lets just say I got a RE GIFT this year!

For our family name drawings this year, my little brother Jamison drew my name

Now, its always exciting to see what he gives people for gifts, last year Jake was the lucky one and for his gift received...
!!a Journal made out of toilet paper!!
It was so thoughtful Jake loved it

Well
This year Jamison (mom) gave me a way cute sweater, I'm actually currently wearing
after I opened it
Jamison looked at me and said
 "that's not all"
he went into the laundry room and out walked...

Aspen Dressed as Santa

Aspen was my Christmas Surprise back in 2002
....Yes, way back when...

When Jake and I got married my parents offered to keep her until we found a home
and well.. we found our home and now Aspen is ours

We love her just as much as booger
Just pray we don't go crazy with both of them

....................
Continuing the Christmas Traditions

Here's to
 Christmas 2010

2011

Excited to see what 2012 Brings us!!

.........................

Ever sense Jake and I moved into our home he has literally been
BEGGING
for me to let him set up his drums
and just like any other normal, sane wife I
Refused
I couldn't bring myself to let him

Well after the begging continued I figured..

well we have two spare bedrooms why not make one a "music room" for Jake
and that it became
Drums Set up and a New Guitar
Merry Christmas Babe!
The "Music Room" still needs a lot of work
But we'll get there

Notice last weeks project has found its placement
I haven't yet decided what colors to paint the room yet
Any thoughts?
HELP!

Shanty vs. Chic

As promised Everyone
!!!Project is goin up!!

Supplies for this project are simple

1 foam brush
small can of wood stain
4 cut squares of particle board
2 printed 4x8 pictures
8 screws
Drill gun
and your choice of spray paint

Step 1:

Evenly Spray paint the piece of particle board that people will most likely be seeing
(please ignore my man hands)

Step 2:

After letting the particle board dry  from the spray paint

Sand each edge of the board giving it a round smooth feel to it

should look something like this..
look close

Its okay to have the spray paint come off, its what your shooting for

Step 3
Is where these babies come in
Your wood stain can be any color, just make sure you don't have it too light or you wont be able to see it

Take your Foam brush and go around each sanded edge of your particle board
lightly stroke each side, If it goes over the edge a little bit more than others its okay

it will give it more character

..::As you can see, mine is the farthest thing from perfect::..

After letting each edge sit for a few 20 seconds Wipe off the excess stain with a paper towel

After doing this step to each side
Your particle board should look like the following:

Notice the edges,
The Stain and sanded edges give the board that antique feel and look to it

Step 4:

Get your 4x8 picture and place it in the desired spot of your particle board

For this step i highly recommend making a hole in your picture before just screwing it on
otherwise you'll risk ripping your picture

Drill each corner of your picture to the particle board

note: make sure you don't screw it on to tight or your picture will
crinkle or rip...
yes I learned that from experience

eh we live and we learn right?

After each step is completed
enjoy your finished project :

Confession

When it came to all the Christmas wrapping and things I needed to get finished before the end of the day

I was probably the most impatient person with this project
It still turned out great but when your following the steps
the drying of the spray paint was where i just lost it...
tic toc tic toc!
Time was something i just didn't have so..

I used a blow dryer to help me speed up the drying process
But DO NOT do that!! Its worth Waiting!

Hope you all Enjoy!
Have a Merry Christmas!!

A Loosing Battle

Alright, Lets Begin...
Anyone recognize THIS?

No?
Then you probably didn't procrastinate your Christmas Shopping until 4 days before Christmas

THAT would be my gas gage..

And yes that is what it has looked like for the past week..
Yes,
I have filled up on gas... all the way up,.. no.. 5 maybe 10 bucks worth, yeah!
Please tell me I'm not alone!

Us Bascoms apparently didn't realize it was Christmas
until about a week ago.
and gas has been the last thing on my mind
...................................

For those of you who didn't receive a Christmas Card from the Bascoms

Just a little Christmas Decor, Money Pinching, Idea

I purchased 5 place mats from All A Dollar totaling .. well $5

Looking for a puppy Model?!

This dog performs his tricks better with a camera in your hand vs. a treat
I have yet to get him to smile,

You can tell we're beginners,
 this past week
he has had the biggest biting problem

Jakes reasoning was because he hates me

I was convinced ...until...

These suckers came out

Teething puppy!? who woulda thought!?
Yes, Puppy fairy came

No.. Neither one has died yet. But by the looks of it, our tree is loosing the battle

Will they be fixed by Christmas..? Probably not!
I'm okay with that.

Fact: with all the Christmas buying and house updates we are going crazy
Proof:

The Lack of project postes will come to an end!! Eventually

And Presenting...

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

I don't know about you, but I swear there aren't enough Weekends in December!
Every weekend has been
Party Party Party!
Now.. I'm not complaining, but It gets exhausting!

all I'm sayin is
...You know you've almost reached your limit when you forget what time your own party is..

Jake and I Hosted our annual
Ugly sweater party
this year for our "family" Friends

and Yes, we forgot what time we had told everyone

Okay so here is where the problem was
We had the "Hale" party last night along with the "ugly sweater" party at our house

What time either one started was beyond me!

In my planner and my mind I had
Hale party 5:30
Ugly Sweater party 7:00

No..
Wrong..

Actual Times:

Hale party 5:00
Ugly sweater party 6:30

Well, that didn't stop us.
...Meanwhile ..
Hale party played Minuet to Win it

Game: You had to shake all the ornaments out of the box tied around your waist..

a lot harder than it looks

Contestants:

Left to Right
Cub, Me, Katie, And Whit
Amazingly and not surprising to any of us

Cub came in first
Little did we know, meanwhile shaking our booties
We had a group of friends waiting for us in our driveway

Sorry Guys!

Presenting

Yes we were late to our own party
How embarrassing!

At least we came in with "style"

I not only got to where that flattering outfit to the party but also go to
"Strut my stuff"
at Smiths!

not only were we late to our own party, but we forgot to get supplies for our ginger bread house
I swear we're great Hosts!

SEE!!?

A great finish to the weekend!?

Check your mail people
The greeting cards have been sent!!

Happy Holidays!!

We've got a new project in the making! Stay Tuned!!

In the Meantime..

Just to tie you over until.. Sunday
ENJOY!

I've been meaning to post about this particular project for the longest time
I haven't really gotten around to it until now because well,
.......
I don't have a good reason
BUT
When you see the project I'm more than 80% sure that some, if not most of you will look at it
Scoff, and mumble to yourself
"She got that from Pintrest"
Because well.... I did!
I do try and follow through with my "re pins"
We'll refer to this one as my

Pintrest challenge
So with the pintrest recognition lets begin!

It all started with
non other
the DI
As do most of my projects
Out in the "yard" I came across 2 sets of white shutters
$20
Took em home..

They collected dust for a good 2 weeks
I'd occasionally sit and stare at them and wonder to myself how I was going to manage to Take on this Pintrest Challenge

Well a warm Saturday in July will show you how:

Pintrest Challenge = Headboard

You'll need:
A few 1x4s

Screws and a screw gun
and of course
Shutters

I don't have step by step pictures so bare with me and let your imagination take you with this one

Step 1: Lay shutters face down on the ground and get exact measurements for each joint

Step 2: Screw a piece of your measured 1x4 in place of each joint seam, enabling the joints to move
roughly shown below
Each arrow indicates each placement we screwed the joints together.

Step 3: Measure the Height you want for your your head board,
Note: its good to measure the height of your bed before

Step 4: for the "feet" of the head board its nothin fancy.. just a pair of 1x4's

They Will Not show.. don't worry

By this step in the process you're basically finished
It should look a little like:
ThiS!
Minus the Homely looking girl and you've got yourself a beautiful Headboard
Step 5: (optional) Take a hammer n nail and distress the shutters.
and Walla!
We try to look professional but we're the farthest thing from it.

FINISHED PROJECT

!!!Have a Good Weekend!!!

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Dear Santa, I can Explain!

Well, Its that time of year again!
Great Deals
Shopping Fights
Colds
Christmas music
Middle Fingers
Lights
and
Christmas Trees

.. wait That time of year started a month ago..
Okay, so we're a little behind the 8 ball, Its okay!

Better Late than Never!
No I haven't done ANY Christmas Shopping.. and Christmas is in how many days?
That, I don't even know.

The good news is, Jake and I finally got our Christmas Tree!
It was Quite the experience
We'll begin Here:
Dressed Warm and Excited to Go find a Tree!
I told Jake to look excited... That was the best he could do.

anyway, moving on....
We both decided to go to the same tree lot we bought our tree last year, Thinking it could become a "tradition" and go there every year.
Well
Turns out each tree was 9 bones a foot.
Lets do some math here...

I'm 5'4 a tree my height... which isn't tall at all
is $50 dollars, We were hoping for at least 7 feet. which would be around 70 bucks
I was NOT about to spend 70 dollars on something I could have picked up off the side of the road no less than a week ago! ...

So a little upset, I told Jake to hurry and take my picture of
how I felt about there prices
I figured, I sounded like a boy (cold), looked like a boy (jakes jacket) I figured I should pretend to... well...
Now.. You may be wondering why I'm pretending to do this in front of that man in the background,
who just happened to be the owner of the lot ..
well, its because my sweet sweet husband didn't tell me!!!!
As I was standing there pretending to "do my business" the owner slowly walked around the corner and witnessed the whole thing.
Jake thought it was to funny to tell me and snapped the picture
I don't think we'll be returning to that lot anytime soon.

After laughing and zooming in and out at the mans face in the picture
cause we all know we do

we found ourselves at the local Smiths,
The trees Were Beautiful and no more than 30 bucks!!!
Jackpot!

We found this pretty tree, and called it ours.
Jake did Bring a Jacket... Its just on me.. Don't judge

Before The Decorating......
I couldn't help myself..I made tucker take a few pictures.
What a good little model he was.

Onto the Decorating!
I went for the Gold and Red This year,
no particular reason other than the fact that all a dollar had the cutest ornaments so I got them.

Please Notice:
Tucker Under the tree,
 and ornament on the ground

Its going to be a long two weeks.

No matter how many toilets are available or how much water is in his doggy dish
Tuck insists on drinking out of the water provided for the tree...
Jake and I have placed bets on who is going to die first
Tuck.. Or.. The Tree
I'm sure you all know who my bet was placed on

I really do love him

Meanwhile,
Jake Whipped up some Brinner!
Breakfast/ Dinner
We dubbed this our new tradition
To make Brinner every year of the night we decorate the tree
It was DELISH!

Flash Back!
Heres to our 2010 Tree
We went for the Skinny tall tree last year
With Green and Brown Ornaments

And Drum Roll Please!!
2011!
We went for the Bigger and Fatter
With Red and Gold

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

What Traditions do you have?
What color schemes did you use this year?
